Craig Alan

b. 1971, San Bernardino, California

A California native, Craig Alan displayed an aptitude for creativity and visual arts from a young age. He fostered his abilities through both formal and informal educational channels, complementing his natural talent with technical knowledge. Today he has established himself as a well known portraiture artist. The artist was inspired to create his Populus series one evening when overlooking a group of people from a balcony and seeing shapes present themselves in the crowd. From this initial moment of inspiration grew one of the artist’s most beloved bodies of work, small figures used in figurative, abstract, and conceptual explorations of form.
