ART TORONTO:

October 27 – 30, 2022

October 31, 2022 – Taglialatella Galleries – Toronto was thrilled to participate in the 2022 edition of Art Toronto. Presenting a curated selection of the leading names at the intersection of contemporary pop and street art, the gallery’s unparalleled offerings speak to its unique positioning within the local arts community. Bold colours and iconic imagery were on view from gallery’s robust roster of internationally recognized and celebrated contemporary artists. From blue chip rarities to exciting emerging names, Taglialatella sought to guide collectors in making the best additions to their collections possible. Jean-Michel Basquiat, Banksy, Mr. Brainwash, Russell Young, and Marco Grassi will be among the artists exhibited.

In addition to a booth full of the gallery’s heavy hitters, Taglialatella did have a few focal points worthy of note. For this year’s fair, Taglialatella chose to highlight three-dimensional pieces. The gallery introduced South Korean metalsmith, Seo Young Deok, who crafts the human form from welded chains. In addition, a monumental piece from Mr. Brainwash’s iconic Life is Beautiful series anchored the centre of the booth.

The gallery was also honoured to exhibit an edition from the latest portfolio of prints from The Estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat. These four prints are based on works originally created between 1982 and 1987 and are tied together by their references to America superheroes. Each one uniquely captures elements characteristic of the artist’s hand and, as a series, offers a window into the last few years of the artist’s life.

Finally, Taglialatella was excited to unveil the newest edition by renowned British artist, Russell Young at Art Toronto ‘22! The largest scale diamond-dusted edition to date, Bardot Thunder White, is a portrait of legendary the French sex symbol, Brigitte Bardot. A rich contrast in black silkscreen inks printed over cream-colored coventry paper, illuminated by a sparkling diamond dust finish, the iconic image is bordered by a clean white margin with hand-deckled edges and the artist’s signature.
