Biography

b. 1980, Miami, FL

Daniel Arsham is an American interdisciplinary artist who works primarily in sculpture and drawing. An interest in fashion, design and architecture inform his creations. He coins his work “future relics of the present,” and creates subtle hybridized versions of elements of pop culture that we all know so well, conjuring a mythical contemporary archeology. Through his work he tries to dig into the now and question the objects that define our present moment.  His most recognizable works are mundane objects like cereal boxes or classical sculptures distorted into corroded, calcified, or glitched-out artifacts. His work questions how we will remember our current moment, and how our current moment engages with the past and informs the future.
