Introducing STIKKI PEACHES at Taglialatella Galleries Toronto

TagTO

July 10th, 2020 (Toronto, ON) – Taglialatella Galleries Toronto is delighted to start offering artworks by Canadian artist Stikki Peaches. Using a variety of media including collage, acrylic paint, and silkscreen, Stikki Peaches’ work occupies a liminal space between the street and the gallery.

“WHAT IF ART COULD RULE THE WORLD”

Since his 2008 debut on Montreal streets, Stikki Peaches’ mash-up wheat pastes have taken over the streets of Paris, New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, Berlin, and London. The first selection of artworks offered at the gallery, are a collection of hand embellished street pieces. Each piece is unique, signed by the artist, and beautifully framed.

“My practice today stems from those memories and the nostalgic feeling of the 80’s and 90’s pop culture.”

“I come from a creative background. My folks both worked in the textile industry: my dad a tailor, my mom a fashion designer. Being surrounded by endless amounts of sketches, patterns, story boards, colour palettes, I took the opportunity to take those scraps of paper and rejected sketches to turn them into something else by painting or colouring over them.
